One Idea: Why Is Returning To Allah So Hard- And How To Make It Easier
Allah is waiting for you at all times, and all that you think will make you ready are only made possible by the Lord you procrastinate going to. | July 3, 2025| #25|
Why is Returning to Allah so Hard?
For many who feel distant from Allah, turning back to Him is hard. You are anxious, sad, seized by desires, but you still find it impossible to turn back to Allah. You want to start praying consistently, want to stop listening to the music, want to start actually enjoying salat and the Qur'an, want to stop gazing at haram but we feel chained to the same things that cause you sorrow.
For you, immediate repentance and turning to Allah is difficult because of one thing: you want to tidy things up before returning to Allah. You want to return clean, perfect, you do not want to go with the garbage. That is the problem.
If you have a moment of clarity while listening to music, you think: but I still watch movies too, and I still miss my salat. What is the point of leaving music? If you feel sad about being in a haram relationship, you think tawbah is not an option yet because there are other things you want to do before tawbah, other sins you want to repent from first before this one, because what is the point of repentance if…?
That is the question that's keeping you chained: what is the point of repentance if..? Don't ever say: I'll fix this first, then do tawbah.
I. The Idea
Never wait to tidy things up before returning to Allah. Practice immediate repentance. Tawbah does not need a ceremony of preparing your mind, then informing, then thinking. Tawbah is immediate, haphazard, shocking. Tawbah should happen in the middle of everything. Tawbah should cut things off in the middle, not come at the end.
You can't tidy things up because things only tidy up after tawbah. True tawbah from one sin will often lead to tawbah from the rest. Some of what you need to tidy correctly will only be given after returning to Allah. Things will tidy on their own, do not worry, turn to Allah.
Present yourself before Allah struggling, present yourself broken, with the complications and the problems. The One you are keeping yourself away from has the solutions to the problems keeping you away from Him.
Waiting to feel ready for tawbah is nothing but the trap of Shaitan to keep you chained to disobedience. It sounds beneficial, even pious, that you want to be the best you can be before going to Allah, but it is the trap of Shaitan. Recognise it for what it is.
Action Steps:
Do Tawbah Immediately
Practice immediate tawbah. You feel the nudge that this thing is wrong, you abandon immediately without excuses. Remind yourself that any excuse to procrastinate tawbah is from Shaitan.
Stop Waiting to Be Ready
Stop waiting to be ready to return to Allah. There is nothing like that. Allah is waiting for you at all times, and all that you think will make you ready are only made possible by the Lord you procrastinate going to.
Cut One Chain Today
Drop one sin, as soon as you feel the nudge to, even if others linger. It may be that this tawbah will open the doors to the other ones
